Dr. Karen L. Hamilton joined the faculty in the Department of Accounting and Finance in Fall 2017 as Associate Professor, Finance. She has been a full-time academic for more than 20 years, serving as a professor and in administrative roles at various institutions in Massachusetts and the southeastern United States.
At 51³Ô¹ÏÍø (BSU), Professor Hamilton teaches managerial finance, risk management and insurance, and financial institutions courses. She is also actively involved on campus, serving on several departmental, college, and university committees. Through her service, she focuses on diversity and equity, interdisciplinary curriculum, and assessment. In addition, she continuously seeks out opportunities for Finance students to interact with finance professionals in the Greater Boston region including working with the Boston Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Chapter to match students with internships and job opportunities in the field of risk management and insurance.
In September 2022, Dr. Hamilton began a three-year term as the Faculty Director for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Small Business. In this role, she promotes entrepreneurship opportunities and guidance across campus. She also helps BSU students and residents in southeastern Massachusetts develop creative and innovative ideas into successful small businesses.
