Dr. Avinandan Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor of Economics at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, where he applies his expertise in labor economics, development economics, and migration studies. He earned his PhD in Economics from the University of New Mexico and previously served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Colgate University. Dr. Chakraborty's research focuses on applied microeconomics, particularly the intersections of policy changes, demographic shifts, and their effects on human capital and labor markets in developing countries. His teaching and research interests span a range of topics, including microeconomics, labor economics, econometrics, and the economics of immigration. He has a robust research portfolio with publications in peer-reviewed journals and ongoing projects that explore return migration and its influence on education and labor outcomes. Recognized with multiple research grants and fellowships, Dr. Chakraborty actively collaborates with scholars from various institutions. His interdisciplinary approach reflects a deep engagement with policy-driven economic behaviors and outcomes across diverse contexts, both domestically and internationally. In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Chakraborty is a dedicated faculty mentor for student athletes at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, contributing to the holistic development of his students.
