James Leone is a Professor of Health. His research interests and activities focus on developing effective health programming to improve health outcomes in underserved communities/populations. Another area of focus is using the social determinants of health models to develop health promotion programs for marginalized populations through translational science. He authored the health promotion textbook Concepts in Male Health: Perspectives Across the Lifespan, which details how to effectively reach populations that tend to have worse health outcomes. He teaches community and public health courses in addition to courses on program planning for health promotion. He delivers 10-15 presentations per year on various topics in health, such as health fairs/screenings, health promotion programming, mental health and substance abuse, and risk behaviors among others.
