Dr. Maurice Williams, Jr. (he, him) is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership (higher education) at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. He earned his PhD in Educational Leadership (higher education) from Clemson University with a cognate in public administration. Dr. Williams is a drum major for both higher education and intercultural competence. As a scholar-practitioner in higher education, Dr. Williams specializes in increasing undergraduate and graduate student enrollment (particularly in the areas of diversity recruitment) as well as retention/persistence rates within higher education institutions. His research critically examines human relations in educational organizations with special emphasis in collegiate recruitment and persistence experiences of underrepresented populations (i.e., Black first-generation students); graduate student development; and team leadership at minority serving institutions. Dr. Williams teaches courses on organization and administration in higher education; diversity and social justice in higher education; qualitative methods; and practical research.
