"While this news is disheartening, it only underlines the need for institutions like ours to redouble their efforts on racial justice and equity."
Welcome to our third issue of ACTION.
Like its predecessors, it is full of stories about the impressive work being done by members of the BSU community with the aim of creating a more just and equitable world. It is important to note that this work is taking place in large and small ways across campus and beyond, all of it a sure sign of our collective commitment to racial justice and equity and to the continuing impact of the Presidential Task Force on Racial Justice.
Anyone wondering how necessary these efforts are need only to follow the news. One recent story was especially concerning. A study by the Anti-Defamation League released late last month showed anti-Semitic incidents across New England are on the rise. The report indicated that in 2022 there were 204 such incidents across the six-state region; Massachusetts led with 152.
While this news is disheartening, it only underlines the need for institutions like BSU to redouble their efforts on racial justice and equity.
We know there is much work taking place that we have yet to highlight. We invite you to submit story ideas focused on BSU’s racial justice and equity efforts. Feel free to email suggestions and feedback to action@bridgew.edu.
ACTION now goes on hiatus for the summer, but will be back in the fall, full of stories chronicling the ongoing work in the name of racial justice.
Thank you!
